Nestled amongst the north Harris hills, in one of the most beautiful spots in the Outer Hebrides, Old Post Office House is 12 miles northwest of the main Harris port of Tarbert in the village of Amhuinnsuidhe (pronounced Aven Suey), Gaelic for "sitting by a river".   The Great Climb
If you decide on a cottage on Harris the old post house is a 5 minute drive away from the start of the walking track out to Sron Ulladale where Dave Macleod and Tim Emmett spent 6 hours scaling the 600 foot cliff face, live on the BBC.

Golden Eagle observatory
The isle of Harris has highest density of golden eagles in Europe and the new observatory is located nearby in Glen Meavag which is home to a nesting pair. It is a 15 minute drive to the start of the 2 kilometre walk to the observatory. You won’t be short of things to do if you decide on cottages on Harris.
